Hello and welcome to my wiki page =]. For the past few weeks I will be posting and updating my work progress on research project.
Week 1
During the first week the class had started to settle in research project class. The teacher discussed and explained what research project is about and had giving some ideas of what topic we could do for our research project.
I first had a look at global warming using the Wonder Wheel on Google and it showed Wonder many links to different topics that are related to global warming. Our class also went to the library where the teacher supplied some books so we could have some more idea of what we like to do for our research topic. I looked at many different books, but at the end I decided to do an issue that is related to bullying and harassment. I decided to do bullying and harassment because I think it is a very big issue to young teenagers. After picking a research topic I came up with a hypothesis/statement ' Can bullying be reduced towards teenagers ? '. After picking my definite topic I had another look on Wonder Wheel to give some more brief ideas about bullying.

Week 2
The teacher introduced to us about Fuse, Fuse is a data base search engine where it shows information, vidoes and other data about different topics. The teacher also introduced us to EBSCO, EBSCO shows articles on many topics that are regulary being updated for us to use From EBSCO I had to pick 5 articles that are related to my topic, and write a brief description why I chose it.
I chose this article because it talks about cyberbullying, which is one of the biggest form of bullying of 21st century. Here talks about how young teenage girls use the internet to bully and send inappropriate sites to their victims. Mainly cyberbullying are by young teenager girls but not the boys. These girls may not look like a bully but once they are behind the computer they can be extremely mean and nasty. This article also tell parents what they can do if their child is being cyberbullied, such as checking the emails for nasty messages and teaching them how to use the internet properly.
I came up with guiding questions where it could help me throughout my research topic. Can bullying be reduced towards teenagers ?
Do teenagers know where to get help if they are getting bullied or harassed ?
How do teenagers get bullied ? physical?, cyberbulling ?, sexual ?
Can bulling and harassment be controlled and stopped ?
What are the affects of being bullied and harassed ?
At the end of week two I have decided to research just on cyberbullying because it is the main form of bullying that occurs to young teenagers.

Week 3
During the first lesson of week three our teacher went through two sites where it shows us how to evaluate our sources.
For week three we had write up a proposal to the teacher. The proposal had to be about what the topic I was doing ?, why I chose it?, how am I going to research it? and who am I going to contact?.
Week 4
During week 4 we had to come with 5 whys about our topic.
Why do young teenagers cyber bully ?
because they think can get away from it by making fun or harassing a person and making them lose self-esteem.
why do people lose self-esteem when being cyber bullied ?
People lose self esteem because other people may spread rumors about that person or making them scared and afraid by sending nasty messages.
why do people spread rumors or send nasty messages to one and another?
social networking and technology are increasing where people are able to get access anywhere, but some people use these inappropriately such as to cyber bully.
Why is technology and social networking increasing throughout the years ?
Technology and social networking are increasing because many people are using them such as Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.
why do people use social networking and phones to communicate ?
People use phones and social networking sites to communicate because it is fast and it can be accessed easily.

week 5
Ms Woud came to our class and told us about Zoomarange and Survey Monkey.She had showed us how to use these two sites to make suverys for our reserach project.

For my research I am planning to contact and interview the Kids Hotline for my primary sources. I would like to contact Kids Hotline because I believe they would have many experiences dealing with teenage problems and issues.
week 6
This week I have started to plan out my discussion for my next week interview on my research topic with my teacher.
I had also made another survey but focusing on younger students from primary school. I have asked my little brother to help me send my survey to his friends. From this survey I would like to see that how much students from school know about cyber bullying.
I have made my interview questions where I will be contacting the kids hotline shorty.
I had decided to have a short interview with the IT staff as I have discovered that the school has installed a cyber bullying report button onto the schools home page. I could possibly get some information on cyber bullying at Woodville high school If I am able to interview the schools IT staff.
10th March
I went to the library and had a talk with Mrs Mcalpine where she had told me her grandsons exprience about spreading nasty rumors and messages. Mrs Mcalpine's son had lost his mobile phone and someone had picked it up using his phone to send nasty messages. After messages had been sent by the person that had found the phone people have blamed Mrs Mcapline's grandson because the text messages was under his name. From this incident it affected his self- esteem and made him feel very uncomfortable going to school, until it was shorted out. From this story I learn t that how fast rumors and messages can spread to other people in an instant. Although Mrs Mcalpine's son was not cyber bullied he was hated because people had abused him for sending the text messages which had made him felt depressed and it affected his schooling. If a person was to be cyber bullied he/she would also have felt the same way.
I had made another survey but for this survey I will be targeting students from primary school. I had asked my little brother to send my survey to his friends from his primary school. From this survey I would want to see how much information do primary school students know about cyber bullying. The survey can be found at the link below.
From Youtube I had found a short video clip that I had like very much. The video basically shows how it would be like if a person was to be cyber bullied.

From my survey I made earlier I had gotten 21 students from high school and 8 students from primary school to do my survey. week 8
I had done my discussion with the teacher and it turned out quite well.
This week I am planning to do my interview if I get the chance to. First I will call the Kidshotline for my interview then I will find and contact the teacher who had decided to plave a report bully button on the schools home page.
This week I have not been working much on my research as I was busy with tests for my other topics .
week 9
For the last rwo weeks I have not been working much on my research topic due to clashes of my other subjects.
This week I went to the new libuary and collected some articles.
I also sent an email to Kids Hotline where i had asked them if it was ok to do an interview with one of the staffs.
After I recieve a reply from the Kidshotline where I am able to interview them, I would have all my information and sources needed for my report write up.
So far I had came of with the following question that I will use to interiew the Kids Hotline. 1- How often do people call the kids hotline that have issues with cyber bullying? 2- How does the kid’s hotline deal with young teenagers that are having issues on cyber bullying? 3- What are the whys that cyber bullying can be prevented? 4- How can cyber bullying affect the lives of young teenagers at school and at home? 5- After young teenagers talk to the staffs of kids hot line, do these people feel safer and know how to deal with cyber bullies? 6- In what ways can we inform young teenagers about cyber bullying? 7- Who else can you get help from if you are being cyber bullied?
I will upload some more questions once I come up with more.
After a few weeks I had received some participants to fill in my survey.
The first survey are done by high school students.
The second survey are done by primary school students.
Week 10
It is week 10 and the Kids Hotline has not replied to my email. I am planning to call them straight by phone instead as it would be quicker than by email.
For for final product I have changed to do my essay in the form of a flyer.
Today I had received a reply from the Kids Hot line coordinator. She had told me If I need to ask with any questions that are related for my research topic, I can just go to their website to find the information are provided.
After looking at their website the information they have provided seemed to be very useful for my research as it answers the questions that I seek.

This is the last week of term 1.
I have gathered most of my informa
tion needed to produce my final outcome which will be a flyer. I have chosen to do a flyer because throughout the research I have read many articles that young teenagers whom are being cyber bullied they do not tend to let anyone know. This is why I have chosen to do a flyer as i want to inform young teenagers on how to prevent cyber bulling and I believe a flyer is an effective way to do it. week 1 holidays
During the holidays I have spent some time reading more articles to find some more information. I also looked at some flyer designs to get some idea how im going to set out for my flyer layout.
I will be using the similar flyer designs that I have found below.

After finishing my flye i decided to change my outcome in a form as a website because it would be more effective as I am able to put more information of my topic.

This article I found interesting because it's written by bully victims of different age groups that had been bullied in the past. They shared a brief description of their experiences of how and why they get bullied by people at their schools.

This article I found very interesting because it showed a survey of effects of people that have been bullied in the past. The aim of this study was to see people who had experienced bullying and how it affected their adult lives such as loosing their self esteem or poorly uneducated due to leaving school early.
